Prompt: #11 Mother - Drabble Table
Word Count: 148
Olenna watched as her grandchildren played. The boys were in the grass. Willas and Garlan were playing keep-away again, and Loras, ever the energetic one, happily gave chase as they kicked the ball back and forth between them.
Sitting under the large elm, a six-year-old Margaery played alone, as she often did when her cousins were not around. She seemed content to sit, surrounded by her dolls, but Olenna did not like the idea of the girl being alone. She walked across the lawn and joined the little one under the tree.
She didn’t speak, just watched as Margaery took each doll in turn and pretended to feed it, burp it, and rock it to sleep. She seemed to have infinite patience, even with the ones that she pretended were crying. Olenna smiled to herself, happy to see that her granddaughter would potentially be a good mother someday.
